Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund: Pivoting for a better future
When the Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund (CINSF) engaged KoLab as their digital thought partner, we applied our ‘it’s better to slow down to speed up’ approach to really get to know their organisation before identifying the best path forward.
As one of the Pacific’s leading financial organisations, technology is mission-critical to their operations.
Change was needed—they were looking for better ways to align their technology with their overarching business strategy and move forward with confidence and success.
Celebrating 25 years in business this year was a huge milestone for the organisation. So, it was timely for the team to seek our strategic support and technical know-how to bring their compliance software in-house and take steps towards a more sustainable digital future.
As an extension of their team, we liaised closely with the team at CINSF, gave strategic advice, and empowered them to make better digital decisions for the long-term.
Our approach has been collaborative and thoughtful—we spent time getting to know the organisation and really tuned into what the organisation needs.
We’ve provided insights into their existing digital technologies, identified gaps in their systems, worked together to mitigate risks, and developed robust, streamlined processes.
We are proud to stand alongside the CINSF team in the end-to-end process of design, development and execution.
This is just the start of our partnership with CINSF. We have some exciting developments in the pipeline—stay tuned!
A Deeper Look at the Infrastructure Story
The infrastructure side of this project–migrating CINSF's critical employer portal from Google Cloud to SiteHost Cloud Containers–was a significant undertaking in its own right. It involved careful risk management, a surprise pivot when the original vendor's support capacity changed, and a deliberate focus on giving CINSF direct ownership of their own hosting environment for the first time.
Our friends at SiteHost have published a detailed account of how that piece of the project came together, including the technical decisions behind the migration and what it means for CINSF's long-term digital independence. It's a great read if you'd like to understand more about the infrastructure thinking that underpinned this work.
